Developed by Certified Safety Professionals (CSP) with over 20 years of experience, this online course ensures you maintain your required continued education on the various topics that relate to Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER).
The Federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) HAZWOPER standards, more specifically OSHA 29CFR 1910.120, requires that anyone with the 24-hour or 40-hour HAZWOPER certification receives a minimum of eight hours of refresher training annually. This 8 hour refresher course is designed to provide that review of key HAZWOPER training topics for affected employees who have previously completed their 24 or 40-hour Hazwoper training course.
This online refresher training course will:
- Help students better recall how to recognize chemical hazards
- Ensure they are better prepared to safely respond to work conditions involving hazardous materials.
- Review a variety of Hazwoper-related topics, such as:
- Personal protection equipment
- Chemical properties
- Hazardous materials
- Toxicology
- Overview of the purpose of the Hazwoper Standard
- Proper handling and disposal of hazardous waste
- Federal OSHA Hazard Communication standard, which incorporates:
- Globally Harmonized System (GHS) of classified and labeling of chemicals (GHS)
This course is not intended to replace any site-specific training and evaluation required by the Federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
Approximate course length: 8 hours
Pre-requisite: 40-hour HAZWOPER course or 24-hour HAZWOPER course
Language: English (student must be able to read and understand English to complete this course)
Testing: You must score at least 80% correct to pass each module quiz and the final exam. If you pass a module quiz, you will be directed to the next module, and if you pass the final exam, you will be able to print your Certificate of Completion. If you do not pass a module or quiz or final exam, you can re-take it a second time, and if necessary, a third time. If you fail the third attempt of a quiz or exam, you can repeat the module or exam (no charge) and then attempt the quiz/exam again.
Certification: Students who successfully complete this course can print their personalized Certificate of Completion which includes the course title, the student’s name, date this course was completed, name and signature of the trainer, and logo of the course provider.

When you are looking for HAZWOPER certification, only the 24-hour or 40-hour certification courses will do. Our HAZWOPER 8 recertification course only is a refresher course and doesn’t include the details that are required for initial certification courses. However, that doesn’t mean that the HAZWOPER 8-hour refresher course is inferior. All of our courses were developed by Certified Safety Professionals (CSP) with more than 20 years of experience.
