Every 5 years, the NYC Department of Buildings (DOB)’s Local Law 196 requires Supervisors at NYC job sites with a Site Safety Plan to renew their mandatory Site Safety Training (SST) with 16 hours of DOB-approved SST.
This includes Site Safety Managers, Site Safety Coordinators, Concrete Safety Managers, Construction Superintendents, and Competent Persons designated by Construction Superintendents.

The NYC SST Supervisor Training offers multiple courses depending on the needs of each person needing the training.
For those who need a complete supervisor training course, we offer the full 62-hour complete supervisor safety package. This includes the OSHA 30 card plus an additional 32 hours of training.
If you already have your up-to-date OSHA 30 card, then there is a separate training course of just the 32 hours of additional training so that you have all of the necessary training information.
There are a couple of other training courses available beyond these. You may be a supervisor who already has a 40-hour site safety training as a worker. In this case, we offer a 22-hour SST supervisor training that supplements the existing 40 hours of training.
Finally, those who already received the full NYC SST Supervisor Training will need to renew this training. This renewal course is a 16-hour course that provides important refresher information to keep the training current.
Finding the time to take various training courses, including the NYC SST Supervisor Training courses, can be a big challenge. And the more hours are involved in the training, the more difficult it becomes to complete them.

These are New York City Site Safety Training certifications that are issued by the Department of Buildings (DOB) under Local Law 196. Certain construction workers in NYC must prove that they have completed the necessary training
No. The SST cards are different and separate from the OSHA cards. OSHA 10/30 cards show that the holder has had training for either 10 or 30 hours on a particular subject (usually safety). The SST cards are additional trainings that are required by NYC.
Supervisors and workers are required to have additional trainings beyond the OSHA 30 card requirements. Supervisors will need either the 32, 22, or 16 hour courses that go beyond the OSHA 30 card. Workers and new entrants will need the 10 hour course that goes beyond the OSHA 30 card. And we also have the 16 individual courses for those needing or wanting training on specific areas.
